The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), celebrated its 50th anniversary on April 27, 2023 at the Manila Polo Club heralding solid industry excellence and service to the Filipino people.

The KBP remains the country’s lone media broadcasting organization. Rich in history and achievement, the KBP continues to strongly position its leadership role as radio and television broadcasters reaching and connecting the country’s archipelago.

Since its creation, the KBP has always championed integrity and media responsibility. As stewards of broadcast media, the last five decades has shown KBP leading in the use of media as instruments in and of self-regulation and responsible advertising.

KBP Chairman Herman Basbaño calls KBP a trailblazer in self-regulation, that is, the fact of something such as an organization acting and governing itself without intervention from external entities. Of the KBP’s continuing fight against disinformation, Basbaño said, “The KBP’s standard of self-regulation is shining in its golden glory as it lives up to the challenges of the times with truthfulness, dedication, and utmost responsibility.”

Adds KBP President Ruperto ‘Jun’ Nicdao, “Since its inception, the KBP has been at the forefront of promoting self-regulation, advancing industry standards and fostering partnerships with government, private and public sectors and academe.” says Nicdao.

The KBP continues to raise industry standards through enhanced development programming, announcers accreditation programs, and manpower training while enforcing a Code of Ethics for radio and television.
